Synopsis
Objectives: Describe the mechanisms, clinical classification of severity, and methods of treatment for heart failure patients; determine the use of echocardiography to assess left ventricular function in heart failure patients; understand the use of M-mode, pulsed-wave and continuous wave Doppler, including tissue Doppler imaging, to determine left ventricular electromechanical function. An enclosed CME Quiz ($25.00 processing fee) can be submitted to Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute for 2.0 AMA Cat. 1 CME credits, if needed. All AMA Category 1 credits are acceptable for ARDMS and ARRT (Cat. B only) requirements. The Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute designates the described educational activities for up to the indicated credit hours in Category I of the Physician's Recognition Award for the American Medical Association.
